Happy Birthdays!

Dear Sam and Jordan -

Happy Birthday! I know you're excited, but it's really no reason to be quite so silly. And Jordan, who's your little buddy? I don't think we've been introduced. Sam, I think that bird pooped on you! That can't be sanitary.

Hope you both have wonderful birthdays!

Love, Betsy

Hi everyone, yes it's finally me!

Hey there everybody!  It's us, the other Brown family residing in Delta County.  At times I wonder if we really DO live here, since we seem to spend just as much time away from home as we do AT home.  HA!  We are all doing well and staying as busy as ever.  Both Tyler and Kianna are playing baseball right now.  Tyler pitches and shortstop.  Dave is coaching and is a little frustrated with the lack of discipline these kids have.  Tyler and maybe 3 others are there because they want to be there and because they want to compete.  The others really don't want to play or are playing because it's something to occupy their time.  It's been a challenge, needless to say!  Kianna wanted to play softball, but there wasn't a sign up for it until 2 weeks after we paid for baseball.  She's doing well but would rather play with the girls now that the boys are getting bigger and more aggressive.  She hit a home run last week and we'll see how she does tonight in Paonia.  Tyler knows the game better than anyone on his team and truly knows what he should do when in a position.  It's refreshing to see him know where and when to throw the ball and actually has made several double plays this season.  He plays tonight vs. the toughest Delta team and it's going to be rough. Tyler's team is down to 9 or 10 players depending, and our catcher is on vacation for 2 weeks which hurts us greatly.  OH WELL!  At least Tyler is having fun and enjoying his favorite sport.  He loves having Dave as his coach and they throw a ball around often.  Both kiddos are going to be taking semi-private swimming lessons starting June 16 for 15 days.  We start Vacation Bible School next Monday, and my mom and I are teaching the 3 and 4th graders.  We are going to Denver the 1st of July for 2 Rockies games and time with friends in between Dave's biannual visit to the specialist.  We'll see how far his disease has progressed then.  For now, it's good and bad days and he's managing.  Work for Dave is insane as the mine usually is, with loads of people quitting and more problems with high gas content and tough conditions.  The longwall has been down since February, so you can imagine the loss of money since then!  He's back to weekends, so that's good for summer but bad for the school year.  We'll see what happens throughout the summer if that can be changed or not.  As for me, I'm managing the family and juggling all of our schedules to the best of my ability.  I miss swimming, and don't get to Delta but maybe 1 time a week.  (Or more if we're playing ball, but not to swim)  As Lea mentioned, fuel prices rise and so does everything else.  WE won't be going anywhere far the rest of this year, that is for certain.  Camping locally will be our "trips".  Hope to hear from all of you soon and please forgive me for not checking the blog very often.  It's just not something I can seem to make time to do!  Love you all, Nath
