Here's a quick re-cap of the meal plans while you are here:

We're shooting for Friday the 28th for a family photo. If the photographer is not available, we'll have to try on Christmas Day. Don't worry about colors as that isn't important to Karen. :-)
Check your e-mail as I've left a more detailed message. Can't wait to see you all!
I know the answer to the trivia question I think: Wasn't it $1,000.00?
Love,
Nath

. . . . .
It was a traumatic morning. I woke up and was getting ready to go to work. I was brushing my hair, trying to get my bangs to lay right, and I saw a little glint of something in the mirror. I took a closer look, and mild swearing ensued. I isolated the anomaly, took a closer look, and more mild swearing followed.
Yes, that's right. This morning, I found a gray hair. GRAY!! In my head!! GRAY, people! And not from my birth mark gray patch, either. An actual gray hair. The worst part is that it's not the first. A couple years ago, I found another little short one. I never say another one, though, so I could attribute it to some kind of fluke, like stress around finals time. Not this one. First of all, it was in a different place, and second, it was still sort of brown at the end, but gray at the root. Definitely a gray hair.
I showed Mom and Dad. Dad laughed at me, several times. Mom said, "Oh, don't worry about it. Talk to your sisters, they know what color to use." And then she laughed at me.
THIS IS NO LAUGHING MATTER! I'm 23, and I found a gray hair! I went to a baptism on Saturday, and the other Primary counselor told me that she found her first gray hair the other day. She's 28! I'm 23!
So give me the dirt. How old were you all when you found your first gray? Am I doomed to a life of premature aging and dying my hair, futilely trying to copy my natural color, which is FABULOUS, but who's days are obviously numbered?
And don't laugh at me. It's not funny.

Brown Trivia #7
Where were Mom and Dad married?
Answer to last week's question:
Invercargill, New Zealand (or as the Kiwi's say, "In-Zed")
*In the spirit of full disclosure, neither of these pictures were taken in Invercargill. The first is Wellington, and the second is Queenstown. Not that you would know if I hadn't told you. Invercargill was much uglier.

Brown Trivia #6
This week's question:
What city did Betsy live in when she was in New Zealand?
Answer to last week's question:
The Heisman.
There wasn't a single guess on that one! Didn't anyone know the answer? I thought it was pretty memorable, myself. I've even used the term in conversation.

New Job!!!
I was just offered a new job (and I accepted) to work for an oral surgeon doing PR for her practice. It will be totally different and a challenge, but that's exactly what I wanted. I turned down another job offer because it would have been pretty dull and I wouldn't have learned anything new. I start on Monday. Now I have to go shopping because I've been wearing jeans to work for the last 5 years!
I'm excited to see you all at Christmas!

Autumnal Equinox
Folklore says that on the equinox, when the day and night are equal lengths, an egg can be balanced on it's end. I think it's supposed to have something to do with harmony. Dad and I tested it:
It was pretty cool. Mom didn't believe it was really on it's end. Happy Autumnal Equinox!
P.S. - To read why this it total crap, click here. But the picture is real, I swear.

Good Wholesome F-U-N
One of the things we were most looking forward to when she got home was playing Scrabble (the other was snuggling). We encountered a problem, though. I didn't have my own Scrabble board, and Mom's was stuck somewhere in the vast unknown of the house. I'd been wanting my own, though, so I went out to Wal-mart and bought the Scrabble Deluxe Edition (I've wanted it forever). It was a little more expensive than what my friend Jessie calls "the lame-o version," but it was totally worth it. The board has boundaries around the squares so the tiles don't move, and it rotates.
Last night we played an amazing game. We used all the tiles, utilized all the space on the board and came up with some great words. When we were finished, we were so impressed with the board that we took a picture.
That bottom word in the shiny spot is "tongue" (that was mine). I also beat my personal high score. Congratulatory gifts can be purchased here. What can I say? We're Srabble nerds.
Today, we went to Tyler's soccer game. Kianna had one too, but it was earlier and we missed it. I got there just after she'd finished. Doesn't she look great?
She loves Sadie. They're pals.
I did get there in time for Tyler's game, and Mom and Dad came a little later. At first I tried to take pictures, but I couldn't watch the game at the same time, so I gave up. I ended up with a bunch of lousy pictures and this pretty good one:
If you've never been to one of Tyler's sporting events (and you probably haven't) you wouldn't know how athletic he is. I went to a baseball game too, and I was really impressed both times. He's really, really good! He's tough too - I was really proud of him. Dave and Nath are great to watch games with because they get really into it. Nath will probably post her own pictures, but I know she's been really busy, so I thought I would put these up too.For a last bit of fun, my friend Jessie (I talk about her a lot, I know) introduced me to a great website called Snide Remarks. It's written by Eric D. Snider, who went to BYU. He wrote "Snide Remarks" in The Daily Universe (the campus paper) and later in The Daily Herald (Provo's paper). Now he just publishes them online. He is HYSTERICAL. I highly reccomend him. My favorite column is "I PETA the Fool." When I read it, I was laughing so hard Dale came upstairs to see what all the comotion was about.
Remember, without a little F-U-N, life is B-O-R-I-N-G.
Oh, and I was called to be in the Primary Presidency. Apparantly the bishop in Delta has lost his mind.

Ashton the Cutie-pie and a Good Laugh
I thought I would post this picture on here for those of you who don't regularly check Cara's blog. If you don't, you totally should. She posts picture fairly often, and of course, Ashton is practically the cutest kid ever (her cousin Valarie is really cute too, but I think Ashton's cuter. I may be biased). I like this picture so much I've gone back to the blog like five times just to look at it again.
Say it with me: "Awwwww!"

And now for the laugh - courtesy of Steve (who should post on here, hint, hint):

Sadie, Franklin, and Fall Mailings
They have a tenuous relationship. They were rather wary of each other in the beginning. Sadie has decided that she likes Franklin, and eagerly jumps in when I open the door. Usually.
This is her preferred riding position.
As you can see from the flapping ears, she loves the feel of the wind in her fur. Not so much, however, in her nose. She snorts a lot.
Franklin is still unsure of his feelings toward Sadie, as she leaves hair on his upholstery and mud on his door panel. So far, he seems to tolerate her. Of course, as he is an inanimate object, it's hard to tell.
In other news, it's Fall Mailing time at Delta Animal Health. This means a lot of sorting, folding stapling and labeling for me.
A lot.
Notice how there's four boxes. That's right. Four. That equals 3500 mailings. So if anyone needs me for the next week, I'll be holed up in Dad's office amidst a sea of orange and yellow, probably talking to myself. Well, mumbling, acutally. If I was a guy, I'd grow a scraggly beard.
Good thing I have my dog to keep my company. Otherwise I might get a little weird.
